MYERS-BRIGGS TYPE INDICATOR®(MBTI)
The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, a self-report questionnaire, is an engaging and effective tool for learning about your personality type and how to make better choices in your career and personal life. The MBTI helps clients understand their preferences for communicating and dealing with information. These individual preferences include:
• where you focus your attention - outer world or inner world (Extroversion vs. Introversion scale)
• how you prefer to take in information or find out about things (Sensing vs. Intuition scale)
• how you prefer to make decisions (Thinking vs. Feeling scale)
• how you are oriented toward the outer world (Judging vs. Perceiving scale) The MBTI is the world's leading personality assessment instrument, used extensively in industry as a tool to:
• help employees better understand themselves, their strengths, and their own personal preferences
• help employees better understand and appreciate individual differences in others - and their preferences
• help employees learn to use their particular type to their own best advantage in dealing with others
• help employees become more effective communicators by understanding personality types better
• help employees improve their interpersonal communication
• facilitate work group functioning
• enhance individual performance in the workplace
Stamboulie Career Consulting uses the MBTI® Step II, which is an extended version of the original instrument. For those who are familiar with Meyers-Briggs, Step II provides additional depth and clarification within each of the four original MBTI preference pairs, or dichotomies. These break down the uniqueness of individuals into greater detail by bringing to light the subtle nuances of personality type, thus avoiding the reduction of all of personality to just the 16 types.
